Obverse description At the centre of the irregularly shaped planchet, a raised circular medallion bears the coat of arms of Chad in the field, rendered in fine detail with two capricorns as supporters and a wreath at the base. Five stylised bats in Chinese artistic tradition are arranged around the central escutcheon, symbolising good fortune. The circular legend surrounding the arms reads 'REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD' above and '10000 FRANCS CFA' below, with the date '2024' incorporated into the legend. The entire coin surface is gold plated, giving the obverse a uniform warm-gold lustre.

Additional information

Chad has issued commemorative coinage under the Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale framework for decades, but the country has no meaningful numismatic tradition of its own — these pieces are designed, struck, and distributed entirely by European private minting operations targeting the collector market. The CFA franc face value is nominal; no serious observer expects 62.2 grams of silver to circulate in N'Djamena.

The KM#317a suffix distinguishes the gold-plated version from a companion pure silver strike, a split-issue strategy now routine among secondary-market bullion producers seeking multiple SKUs from a single die set.
