| 正面描述 | The national coat of arms of Burkina Faso occupies the central field, depicting a shield charged with a white star, flanked by two rampant horses and overlaid on a crossed hoe and torch. An open book and decorative foliage appear at the base, with the national motto 'Unité Progrès Justice' inscribed on ribbons below. A banner above the shield bears the legend 'BURKINA FASO'. The circular legend 'REPUBLIQUE DU BURKINA FASO' arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination '10000 FRANCS CFA' is inscribed prominently along the lower rim. |

John Paul II was canonized on April 27, 2014, alongside John XXIII — the first time two popes had been canonized simultaneously. Burkina Faso, a majority-Muslim country with a substantial Catholic minority concentrated largely in the southwest, has issued papal commemoratives with some regularity, a commercial practice driven more by the numismatic collector market than by domestic religious demand.
The one-kilogram format places this firmly in the trophy-coin category produced for European and Asian collector markets. KM#28 is the catalog reference for this issue within the Burkina Faso series.
