| Obverse description | The obverse features the coiled body of a Black Mamba snake rendered in exceptional high relief, its scales meticulously detailed and filling the entire field in a dramatic, almost three-dimensional composition. At center, the coat of arms of the Republic of Chad is depicted, flanked by two goats rampant as supporters, with a ribbon below bearing the national motto. The Black Mamba issue is part of BEAC's ongoing wildlife bullion program, through which the six member states of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and the Republic of the Congo — collectively authorize commemorative issues despite having no domestic precious-metal minting infrastructure. The coins are produced by private European minting houses under license, a arrangement that has drawn quiet criticism from economists who note the irony of a currency union issuing silver collectibles priced far beyond the monthly wage of most citizens in its member states.
