The Black Mamba issue is part of BEAC's ongoing wildlife bullion program, which has used the franc CFA denomination to place Central African coinage into the international collector market — a market that largely ignores the currency in any transactional sense. The 62.2g fine silver format targets the two-troy-ounce bullion collector segment directly.
Dendroaspis polylepis is native to the savanna and rocky terrain of sub-Saharan Africa, including portions of the BEAC member states. It is the fastest land snake on earth, capable of reaching 20 km/h.
