Hungary has participated in every Summer Olympics since 1896 — with the single exception of the 1984 Los Angeles boycott — and the country's medal haul per capita ranks among the highest in the world, driven largely by fencing, canoeing, and water polo. This 2021 issue commemorates the Tokyo Games, which were themselves held in 2021 despite the nominal 2020 designation, delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic in an unprecedented peacetime postponement of the modern Olympic calendar.
