| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field depicts the Annunciation scene rendered in the style of Armenian manuscript illumination: an angel with outstretched wings faces right toward the Virgin Mary, separated by a stylised tree bearing a small figurine at its base. Both figures are shown with nimbi and draped robes, their postures echoing 13th-century Armenian iconographic tradition. The Armenian legend ՀԱՅԱՍՏԱՆԻ ՀԱՆՐԱՊԵՏՈՒԹՅՈՒՆ ԿԵՆՏՐՈՆԱԿԱՆ ԲԱՆԿ (Republic of Armenia Central Bank) curves along the upper border, with the date 2011 appearing in the upper left field. The denomination ՏԱՍԸ ՀԱԶԱՐ ԴՐԱՄ (Ten Thousand Dram) is inscribed along the lower border. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field reproduces a multi-figure sacred scene adapted from the illuminations of the 13th-century Armenian scribe and artist Toros Roslin, depicting several haloed saints and figures set against an architectural arcade of arched colonnades rendered in relief. The numeral 800 appears incuse at the lower centre of the field, commemorating the 800th anniversary of Toros Roslin. | Aanvullende informatie |
Toros Roslin was a 13th-century Armenian illuminator working at the scriptorium of Hromkla, producing manuscripts of extraordinary refinement during a period when the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia was navigating uneasy alliances between the Crusader states and the Mongol powers pressing from the east. Six of his signed manuscripts survive, held across institutions including the Walters Art Museum and the Matenadaran in Yerevan.
The coin is part of Armenia's ongoing bullion and commemorative gold program celebrating figures from medieval Armenian cultural history. Roslin signed his name to his work — unusual for manuscript illuminators of the period.
