| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse features a central arch-shaped panel containing a four-line Armenian quotation reading 'ՄԻ ԲԱՆ ԿԱՐ ԻՄ ՍՐՏՈՒՄ, ՈՐ ՉԿԱՐՈՂԱՑԱ ԱՍԵԼ' (There was something in my heart that I could not say), rendered in stylized Armenian script, below which appears a facsimile of Khachatur Abovyan's signature. The date '2009' and the denomination '10000 ԴՐԱՄ' are inscribed in the lower field beneath the arch. The circular legend along the upper rim reads 'ՀԱՅԱՍՏԱՆԻ ՀԱՆՐԱՊԵՏՈՒԹՅՈՒՆ ԿԵՆՏՐՈՆԱԿԱՆ ԲԱՆԿ' (Republic of Armenia Central Bank) in Armenian script. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a sculptural low-relief effigy of the Armenian writer and public figure Khachatur Abovyan, depicted in a three-quarter facing portrait with a draped collar, occupying the right and centre of the field. To the upper left, the legend 'ԽԱՉԱՏՈՒՐ ԱԲՈՎՅԱՆ' (Khachatur Abovyan) is inscribed in Armenian script following the rim. In the lower left field, the numeral '200' and the word 'ԱՄՅ ԱԿ' (anniversary) commemorate the bicentennial of his birth. The composition is bold and minimalist, with the portrait dominating the polished field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Khachatur Abovian is credited with writing the first novel in modern Armenian — Wounds of Armenia, completed around 1841 but unpublished until 1858, nearly a decade after his mysterious disappearance in 1848. He was never found. The circumstances remain unsolved, with theories ranging from Tsarist secret police abduction to suicide, and the case has never been officially closed.
