| 背面描述 | A large, boldly modelled effigy of the Armenian poet Hovhannes Shiraz occupies the right and central field, rendered as a three-quarter facing portrait inclined slightly downward to the left, with detailed depiction of the poet's wavy hair and contemplative expression against a deeply mirrored proof field. The Armenian letters 'Շ Ի Ր Ա Զ' (Shiraz) arc along the upper left border. The birth and death years '1914' and '1984', separated by a horizontal rule, appear in the lower left field. |

Hovhannes Shiraz — born Hovhannes Karapeti Karapetyans in 1914 in Alexandropol, present-day Gyumri — is widely considered the foremost Armenian lyric poet of the twentieth century. This coin was issued in the centennial year of his birth. His work was frequently suppressed under Soviet cultural policy; his 1940s epic Siamanto and Khachatur circulated in samizdat form for years before any official publication was permitted.
The .900 fineness places this squarely in Armenia's standard gold commemorative format for the period, minted in small runs through a contracted European facility.
