| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam occupies the upper central field, depicting a five-pointed star above a cogwheel and rice sheaves tied with a ribbon bearing the country's name in Vietnamese. The circular legend CỘNG HÒA XÃ HỘI CHỦ NGHĨA VIỆT NAM runs along the upper periphery, while the date 2001 is divided across the lower field on either side of the arms.
