Vietnam's wildlife conservation series, issued through the early 2000s, was produced largely for the collector export market rather than domestic circulation. The buffy-headed marmoset — Callithrix flaviceps — is native to the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil, not Vietnam, which places this coin squarely in the category of foreign-fauna issues minted by smaller central banks to generate hard currency through numismatic sales.
KM#76 was struck at low mintage and distributed primarily through European and American coin dealers.
