At center, a large square-rigged galleon with full sails and a flag at the masthead rides at anchor on calm waters, while a small rowing boat with figures approaches the tropical shore in the foreground. To the left, two stylized palm trees frame the coastal scene. The denomination 10.000 CORDOBAS is inscribed along the lower field. The surrounding legend reads CRISTOBAL COLON in the upper arc and DESCUBRIO NICARAGUA 1502 in the lower arc, separated by ornamental dots, all rendered in raised relief against a deeply mirrored proof field.
