| 表面の説明 | Intaglio portrait of José Figueres Ferrer at centre-left against a green and multicolour guilloche underprint, with a blue vignette in the background alluding to the 1948 abolition of the Costa Rican army — soldiers laying down arms beneath a map of Costa Rica rendered in purple at upper right. The large denominational numeral '10 MIL COLONES' appears at lower right in a colour-shifting optically variable ink panel, with two facsimile signatures (Presidente and Gerente) printed below centre. |

The P#277 series was part of a broader redesign of Costa Rican currency undertaken in the late 2000s, when the Banco Central moved to standardize security features across denominations in response to increasingly sophisticated counterfeiting of the older colón issues. Oberthur Fiduciaire in Rennes produced the run, as they did for much of the series.
The 10,000 colón denomination has long functioned as the workhorse high-value note in everyday Costa Rican commerce — worth roughly $20 USD at mid-series issue, common enough to circulate heavily, which means clean unfolded examples from this run are harder to find than the print volumes would suggest.
