| Obverse description | Portrait of Simón Bolívar in intaglio to the right, within a fine-line border frame. Bolivia's wartime economy ran on commodity windfalls — tin exports boomed under Allied demand, and the government found itself managing unusual monetary expansion rather than contraction. The 10,000 Bolivianos denomination reflects that inflationary pressure already building through the mid-1940s, before it became catastrophic in the following decade.
Thomas De La Rue produced the note in London while Britain was still formally at war, a routine arrangement that continued uninterrupted throughout the conflict for Latin American clients. The watermark is the only security measure on the sheet — no threads, no fluorescent elements, nothing beyond what the paper itself carries.
