| Opmerkingen |
Bolivia's hyperinflation in 1984–85 was among the worst in Latin American history, with annual inflation peaking above 20,000 percent. The 10,000,000 Peso Boliviano note was not a novelty denomination — it was a functional necessity, issued as the currency collapsed in real time. By the time these notes reached circulation, their purchasing power was already eroding by the hour.
The Peso Boliviano itself was scrapped later in 1985, replaced at a rate of one Boliviano to one million Pesos Bolivianos — making this note worth precisely one cent of the new currency on conversion day.
