The Polska Krajowa Kasa Pożyczkowa — the Polish State Loan Bank — was a wartime creation of the German occupation authorities, established in 1916 to manage currency in occupied Polish territories. It survived into independence but became the instrument through which Poland absorbed one of the worst hyperinflationary collapses in interwar Europe. By early 1923, the mark had deteriorated so severely that denominations in the millions became necessary for routine transactions; this 10,000,000 mark note was itself obsolete within months of issue.

The zloty reform of 1924 replaced the marka at 1,800,000 to 1.
