| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse is printed in green and black on cream paper, with a decorative floral-and-leaf border framing the entire face. A central vignette presents a letterpress rendering of the issuing factory's industrial complex, its chimneys and rooflines extending across the mid-field, beneath which the denomination "Mark 10000000" is set in bold black type within a diamond-shaped underprint panel. The issuer's name and location appear in Gothic script at the top, the place and date "Ichtershausen i. Thür., 25. August 1923" at the lower left, and two circular Fabrik-Marke seals with an eagle device are affixed to the right stub, alongside a red serial number printed vertically. |

Ichtershausen's needle and steel goods factory — Wolff, Knippenberg & Co. — issued this note during the peak inflationary spiral of 1923, when German industrial firms routinely printed their own emergency currency to meet payroll. The practice was both legal under Weimar emergency provisions and a practical necessity: Reichsbank notes were depreciating faster than they could be transported to workers. A local printer, Otto Böttner in nearby Arnstadt, handled production — a common arrangement where firms contracted whoever was closest and available.
Ten million marks, once an unimaginable sum, was ordinary pocket change by mid-1923.
