August 1923. Niederrhein Der Bürgermeister. I.V. Der Beigeordnete. |
| 背面描述 | The reverse carries a finely engraved panoramic industrial vignette occupying virtually the full note field, printed in blue-grey over a rose-red underprint. The scene presents an extensive steelworks or ironworks complex — characteristic of the Rheinhausen area — with tall chimneys, blast-furnace stacks, derrick cranes, rail tracks, and ancillary factory buildings rendered in close-line engraving. The denomination "10 MILLIONEN" is overprinted in large, bold sans-serif type across the centre of the vignette, with the corner numerals "10" repeated in each quadrant. |

| 备注 |
Rheinhausen, a steel-town on the Lower Rhine, was at this point essentially a company municipality — Krupp's massive Hüttenwerk dominated both the local economy and its politics. When the Reichsbank could no longer supply sufficient currency during the hyperinflation peak of late 1923, municipalities across Germany were authorized to issue their own emergency denominations, and Rheinhausen's Bürgermeisterei joined hundreds of other local authorities in doing so. The 10,000,000 Mark figure, staggering by any peacetime measure, was worth roughly the price of a loaf of bread at the time of printing.
Notgeld at this denomination level had a functional lifespan measured in days before new issues rendered it obsolete.
