备注

Annweiler am Trifels is a small town in the Rhineland-Palatinate — its connection to imperial Germany runs deep, sitting beneath the Trifels castle where Richard I of England was held captive in 1193. By August 1923, the town's administration was issuing emergency currency denominated in eight-figure sums, a direct consequence of the Reichsbank's inability to supply sufficient legal tender as hyperinflation destroyed purchasing power faster than notes could be printed and distributed.

Local Notgeld at this denomination was typically printed on whatever stock was available, often on a single press run with hand-stamped validation. The ten-million mark figure, staggering by any prewar measure, would have bought roughly a loaf of bread at mid-1923 prices — and less still by November.
