| Reverse description | The reverse is printed entirely in dark green on cream paper and consists of a bold typographic denomination arrangement within a triple-ruled rectangular frame. An outer border of repeating guilloche ornamental units surrounds a central panel divided into three horizontal registers: the numeral '10' at top, the word 'Milliarden' in large Gothic blackletter type at centre, and the abbreviation 'M.' at bottom, each register flanked by lateral guilloche panels with fine engine-turned wavy-line patterns. The printer's imprint appears below the outer frame. |

Ritzebüttel was an unusual administrative holdover — the Amt Ritzebüttel, including Cuxhaven, remained under Hamburg's direct jurisdiction rather than being incorporated into the surrounding Prussian province, a status it had held since Hamburg acquired it in 1394. That civic peculiarity meant the local Sparkasse operated under Hamburg municipal law, which gave it standing to issue emergency currency during the hyperinflation peak of autumn 1923.
Ten billion marks. Printed by a local newspaper press, the Cuxhavener Volksblatt, which was a common enough arrangement when dedicated print shops couldn't keep pace with denomination demands that multiplied weekly.
