备注

The Lippische Landesbank issued this 10-billion-Mark note as an emergency Notgeld instrument during the peak weeks of the German hyperinflation in late 1923 — a period when the Reichsbank's printing capacity was so overwhelmed that regional banks and even private firms were formally authorized to issue their own currency. The free state of Lippe-Detmold was among the smaller German states to exercise this right, and its state credit institution turned to local printer Wiegand & Frank, whose press was already well-acquainted with the volume demands of the crisis.

By the time this denomination was printed, it was already functionally inadequate — 10 billion Marks bought little more than a loaf of bread in October 1923.
