Polish próba coins of the early 1930s occupy a peculiar administrative space: they were struck as trial pieces to test proposed designs or compositions before official authorization, but the State Mint also produced them in small quantities for sale to collectors — a practice that blurred the line between genuine trial strike and deliberate numismatic product. The "raised próba" designation refers to the incuse inscription PRÓBA appearing in relief rather than recessed, distinguishing it from the more common sunken-lettered variants of the same type.
The 1932 zloty series was minted as Poland's interwar economy remained fragile following the 1929 crash, with the government actively managing silver content in circulating coinage.
