Poland's post-partition monetary rebuilding in the 1920s involved extensive trial striking before any design reached circulation, and the oak leaf zloty was part of that competitive evaluation process. The "próba" designation — the Polish term for pattern or trial — indicates this was struck for official examination rather than release. The nickel composition here was ultimately rejected; the circulating 1929 issue went out in silver.
