Obverse description Central field displays the ornate quartered arms of the Free Imperial City of Nuremberg, comprising a displayed eagle in the dexter half and diagonal barry stripes in the sinister half, set within an elaborately baroque cartouche with foliate and scroll embellishments. The shield is surmounted by a decorative acanthus-scroll crest and flanked by symmetrical baroque ornamental supports. The entire composition is rendered in high relief against a smooth field. The coin is encircled by a bold reeded border. No legend appears on this face.
