Obverse description St. Mark, patron saint of Venice, stands at left in long robes, holding a pennant-topped staff, and presents the ducal investiture banner vertically inscribed DVX to the kneeling Doge Sebastiano Venier at right. The legend SEB·VENERIO ·S·M·VENET· DVX curves around the periphery in Latin characters. The composition follows the traditional Venetian zecchino type with both figures rendered in the flat, hieratic style characteristic of late medieval Venetian coinage.

Reverse description Christ in Majesty stands full-length and facing within a beaded mandorla ellipse decorated with a border of six-pointed stars. The figure is depicted in a frontal, iconic pose with arms slightly extended in the Byzantine tradition, consistent with the standard Venetian zecchino reverse type. The surrounding Latin legend SIT T XPE DAT Q T REGIS ISTE DVCA, an abbreviated votive inscription meaning 'May this duchy be given to Thee, O Christ, whom we rule,' runs around the outer periphery. The overall design reflects the strong Byzantine artistic influence that persisted throughout Venetian gold coinage.
