| Reverse description | Full-length frontal figure of the Virgin Mary, nimbed and standing on a small mound, with arms slightly extended and holding the Christ Child before her. The figure is rendered in high relief in the hammered style, surrounded by a field of six six-pointed stars arranged in an arc. A beaded inner border frames the central device, and the legend runs continuously around the periphery in two segments separated by stops, recalling Marian devotional iconography standard to the Order of St. John's gold coinage. |
