| Obverse description | Central field displays a heraldic shield bearing the Trivulzio arms, surmounted by a helmet with crest, all set within a lobed or cusped inner frame typical of late medieval Italian coinage. The shield and helmet are rendered in the Gothic heraldic style characteristic of Lombard lordship issues of the late 15th and early 16th centuries. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the central device, reading the abbreviated titles and name of the lord. The overall design reflects the feudal pretensions of Johann Jakob Trivulzio as lord of Mesocco. The flan is irregular, consistent with the hammered production technique of the period. |
