| Reverse description | Christ in Majesty stands facing within a pointed mandorla or vesica piscis formed by a beaded oval border, rendered in high relief with a nimbus surrounding his head. His right hand is raised in benediction while his left hand holds an orb, consistent with standard Venetian ducal coinage iconography. A field of small six-pointed stars surrounds the mandorla against the flat hammered ground. The circular legend ·SIT·T·XPE·DAT·Q·TV· ·REGIS·ISTE·DVCAT· (a traditional Venetian ducal inscription invoking Christ as ruler) encircles the entire design. |
