| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the quartered coat of arms of Grand Master Antonio Manoel de Vilhena, combining the arms of the Order of St. John (plain cross) with his personal heraldic bearings, supported by decorative mantling and surmounted by a Grand Master's crown. A rampant lion appears as a charge in one of the quarters. The surrounding legend reads F·D·AN:MANOEL DE VILHENA MM · 1724, distributed around the periphery within a beaded border, with the date 1724 incorporated into the left side of the legend. |
