| Aversbeschreibung | The Virgin Mary depicted in full figure, seated upon clouds in a baroque celestial composition, her head encircled by a radiate nimbus of fine sunrays. She is draped in flowing robes and gestures with her right hand toward a small architectural element — likely a representation of the papal tiara or church — while her left hand holds a palm frond. The legend SEDE VA CA NTE is distributed in the field around the figure, referencing the vacancy of the Holy See. The coin's milled edge border frames the finely engraved high-relief design, characteristic of Ottone Hamerani's artistry. |

| Reversbeschreibung | The papal arms of Cardinal Camerlengo Annibale Albani displayed at centre, surmounted by the umbraculum (the ceremonial canopied umbrella of the Sede Vacante) and the crossed keys of Saint Peter, the emblems of the Apostolic Camera during the interregnum. Above the umbraculum, the Holy Spirit descends as a dove amid radiating glory. The legend ZECCHINO ROMANO flanks the central device, with the date 17 30 divided in the lower field. The reverse is struck in high relief with crisp baroque detail, consistent with the production standards of the Rome Mint under Hamerani. |

Sede Vacante coinage was struck under the authority of the Apostolic Camera during the interregnum between papal reigns — a carefully regulated window when the Camerlengo held de facto administrative control over the Papal States. In 1730, that office was occupied by Cardinal Annibale Albani, nephew of Clement XI, whose family had dominated Roman ecclesiastical politics for decades. The vacancy followed the death of Benedict XIII on February 21st, with Clement XII elected on July 12th after a conclave that ran unusually long amid factional fighting between the Albani and Corsini blocs.
Zecchini struck during sede vacante periods are inherently short-issue pieces, produced only for the weeks the vacancy lasted.
