正面铭文 中华人民共和国 · Beijing 2008 · THE GAMES OF THE XXIX OLYMPIAD · 2008
背面描述 The reverse displays a stylized cartoon figure of Jingjing, the panda mascot of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, depicted in the act of weightlifting, holding a barbell overhead in a clean-and-jerk pose. The mascot is rendered in a rounded, child-friendly artistic style with a floral headdress and large expressive eyes. The denomination '1' and the Chinese character '元' appear in the upper left field. A curved Chinese legend reading 第29届奥林匹克运动会 (29th Olympic Games) is inscribed along the lower border, flanked by the sport name in Chinese characters at either side.

附加信息

Issued for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, this coin belongs to a sprawling commemorative program the People's Bank of China rolled out across multiple series and metals — gold, silver, and base metal — making the brass circulating issues by far the most accessible tier of the release. China's first Olympic Games as host generated an enormous domestic collector market, and these lower-denomination pieces circulated alongside purpose-struck examples, meaning wear is genuinely common on surviving examples.

Weightlifting had particular national resonance that year: Chinese athletes took gold in four of the eight weight categories at the Beijing Games.
