| Obverse description | Uniformed bust of Yuan Shikai facing left, depicted in the characteristic rotund style that lends the type its popular designation 'Fat Man dollar.' A six-character Chinese legend arcs across the upper field, reading 中華民國三年 (Year 3 of the Republic of China), flanking the effigy on either side. The portrait features a shaved head, short moustache, and high military collar, rendered in relatively low relief consistent with the imitation nature of the piece. The toothed border frames the entire design. |
