| Obverse description | Facing bust of Duan Qirui, Chief Executive of the Republic of China, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail including a goatee and Western-style suit. A nine-character Chinese legend arcs across the upper field, reading right to left. The portrait occupies the majority of the coin's field, with a finely toothed border encircling the design. |

The "Peaceful Unification" yuan was struck in 1924 amid anything but peaceful conditions — the same year saw the Second Zhili-Fengtian War tear apart the northern warlord coalitions, and Sun Yat-sen's own Guangzhou government remained locked in fundamental disagreement with Beijing over what unification would even mean. The coin's inscription was aspirational propaganda as much as political declaration.
Its absence from the Y# reference system and reliance on Kann and L&M attributions reflects how poorly documented this issue remains. Likely a limited official or semi-official striking rather than a broad circulation issue.
