| Obverse description | Facing bust effigy of Sun Yat-sen, founder of the Republic of China, rendered in high relief with a mustache and wearing a mandarin-collar military tunic. Eight Chinese characters arranged in an arc around the upper periphery read 中華民國十五年 (Year 15 of the Republic of China, i.e. 1926). The portrait is boldly modeled, occupying the majority of the field, and is framed by a finely toothed border of reeding along the coin's rim. |

| Reverse description | The denomination 壹圓 (One Yuan) is inscribed in two large Chinese characters in the center of the field, flanked on either side by a graceful spray of rice or wheat, the two sprays meeting at the base and bound together with a decorative ribbon or bow, forming an open wreath. The overall composition is elegant and symmetrical, with finely detailed grain heads extending toward the upper periphery, all enclosed within a toothed rim. |
