Descrizione del dritto	Vertically oriented note printed in brown and red on plain paper, with a fine guilloche border framing the entire face. A central intaglio oval vignette presents a bust portrait of Sun Yat-Sen turned slightly left, beneath which the denomination 壹圓 appears within a guilloche cartouche; red overprinted restriction legend 限馬祖地區通用 flanks the cartouche on both sides. Two red seal stamps are applied at mid-height, one to each side of the central vignette, identifying the note's restricted regional validity.

Descrizione del rovescio	Vertically oriented reverse printed in brown, centred on an intaglio circular vignette of the Bank of Taiwan head office, a neoclassical building with a colonnaded facade. The issuer name BANK OF TAIWAN arches across the upper portion in bold letterpress, with the red Chinese regional characters 馬 and 祖 placed to either side; a large guilloche cartouche at lower centre carries the numeral 1, with the year date 1954 below and the red regional characters 祖 and 馬 at the bottom corners.
