Reverse description Central device features a finely detailed coiling five-clawed imperial dragon in high relief, facing left and clutching a flaming pearl beneath its body, surrounded by clouds and stylised flames. The upper legend reads HU-NAN PROVINCE and the lower legend reads 7 MACE AND 2 CANDAREENS, both in raised Latin letters. Small rosette ornaments appear at either side between the upper and lower legends. The design is enclosed by a toothed border and displays a mirror-like proof field with rich iridescent toning characteristic of a pattern striking.
