正面描述 Central field features four large Chinese ideograms arranged vertically and horizontally around a pair of Manchu script characters at centre, denoting the reign title Guangxu and the denomination Yuanbao. An outer legend of Chinese ideograms encircles the central group, reading clockwise and conveying the issuing authority (Fukien Province official mint) and the weight standard (7 Mace and 2 Candareens). The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. The inscription combines both Chinese and Manchu scripts in the traditional Imperial bilingual format used on Qing dynasty coinage.

附加信息

Fukien Province's silver dollar program in the late 1890s was perpetually troubled. The provincial mint at Foochow struggled with inconsistent bullion supply and competing pressure from both the Imperial Board of Revenue and foreign merchant interests who dominated the treaty port trade. This particular type — distinguished by the five-character Manchu and Chinese inscriptions — represents one of the earlier configuration attempts before the province settled on a more standardized format under later Guangxu issues.

KM#Pn19 classification as a pattern rather than a circulation strike is the critical detail here. Foochow's output from this period exists in a murky middle ground between trial and issue coinage.
