Reverse description A finely detailed coiled imperial dragon dominates the central field, depicted in high relief with scaled body, clawed feet, and flaming whiskers, its head facing forward with a flaming pearl below. The dragon's sinuous body fills the field with great dynamism, accompanied by stylised cloud and flame motifs in the surrounding area. A horizontal Chinese legend at the top of the field reads the province of issue, while further Chinese characters along the lower and side margins denote the denomination in Mace and Candareens. The composition is contained within a fine beaded border, consistent with the engraving style of late nineteenth-century Chinese provincial pattern coinage.
