Obverse description Portrait of Sun Yat-sen in an oval vignette at right, rendered in intaglio against a blue guilloche underprint. The centre of the note bears the large denomination characters 壹圓 flanked by ornate floral guilloche panels, with the issuing authority 行銀央中 and series title 券元銀 inscribed across the top. Two red seal impressions appear at lower centre, with the date inscription 年八十三國民華中 running along the lower margin.

Reverse description Central vignette of a Chinese junk under sail, enclosed within a circular frame set against a fine guilloche background printed in blue. The English legend THE CENTRAL BANK OF CHINA and the promise clause PROMISES TO PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND appear at the top, with the denomination ONE SILVER DOLLAR at left and the date 1949 at the foot. Two manuscript signatures appear below the vignette, designated GENERAL MANAGER and GOVERNOR respectively, with the printer's imprint CHUNG HWA BOOK CO. LTD. at the lower margin.
