The issuer name 臺灣銀行 appears in Chinese characters at the upper centre, with the denomination 壹圓 rendered within an ornate foliate medallion in the lower half. Two red seal chops flank the central medallion, and the four corners carry the Chinese numeral 壹; the serial number and date inscription 中華民國四十三年 appear in red at top and bottom respectively.

This 1954 1 Yuan blue belongs to an early stabilization-era series issued under strict controls following the catastrophic hyperinflation that had destroyed the Old Taiwan Dollar — the New Taiwan Dollar, introduced in 1949 at a rate of 40,000 to one, was the foundation these notes were built on.
