| Obverse description | Printed in purple on a pale yellow-green guilloche underprint, the obverse is dominated by a large intaglio vignette of a steam locomotive advancing toward the viewer, set against a landscape with a sailing vessel in the distant background. A scalloped guilloche medallion at left carries the Chinese denomination characters 壹圓 within an elaborate lathe-work frame, with the bank title 交通銀行 in a cartouche at top centre. The lower panel bears issuer and denomination inscriptions in Chinese flanked by repeating underprint panels, with red seal chops applied at the lower left and right. |

| Reverse description | The reverse, also in purple on a multicolour guilloche ground, presents a central intaglio vignette of the Summer Palace (Yi He Yuan) in Beijing, with Longevity Hill and the Tower of Buddhist Incense rising above Kunming Lake, enclosed within an ornate rectangular frame with scrollwork spandrels. A large lathe-work oval panel at left serves as a security underprint background, while a floral guilloche rosette at right carries the numeral 1. The English bank title runs along the top, two facsimile signature panels appear in the lower border, and the date 1935 is set within a ruled panel at the foot above the printer's imprint. |
