Obverse description Printed in green on a pale ground, the obverse centres on an oval vignette containing a portrait of Sun Yat-sen facing three-quarters left. The issuer's name 臺灣銀行 (Bank of Taiwan) is inscribed in Chinese characters at the top, with the numeral 壹 in each upper corner. Two red seal impressions appear at mid-left and mid-right, each reading 限金門通用 (valid only in Kinmen), and the large Chinese denomination 壹圓 is set within a guilloche rosette at centre-bottom. The serial number and date 中華民國三十八年 (Republic of China Year 38) appear at lower centre.

Reverse description The reverse, printed in green, carries the English inscription BANK OF TAIWAN arched across the top. A vignette of the Bank of Taiwan building occupies the upper half, rendered in fine line engraving. Below, a map of Taiwan island is depicted with the characters 金門 flanking it at left and right, referencing the Kinmen restricted-circulation area. The English legend ONE YUAN appears at the bottom centre, with the numeral 1 repeated in each corner.
