| Opmerkingen |
The Mengchiang Bank was established in 1937 under Japanese occupation as the central bank for the Inner Mongolian puppet state of Mengjiang. Its notes displaced the currencies of both the Suiyuan and Chahar provincial banks, which were forcibly withdrawn — a deliberate consolidation designed to anchor the occupied territory's economy to Japanese military supply chains rather than any Chinese monetary authority.
The 1940 dating places this note in the middle of active wartime issuance. Surviving examples often show heavy rural circulation wear, reflecting use across a largely agricultural and nomadic economy with little access to banking infrastructure.
