Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Sun Yat-sen at center, flanked on either side by decorative floral sprigs. Chinese ideograms arranged in two groups form the obverse legend: four characters arching above the portrait reading 中華民國 (Republic of China), and four characters below reading 開國紀念幣 (Founding Commemorative Coin). The overall composition is rendered in a formal, portrait-medal style characteristic of early Republican Chinese coinage patterns.

Reverse description Central field bears two large Chinese ideograms 壹圓 (One Dollar) stacked vertically within a square cartouche, framed by an open wreath of grain stalks and rose blossoms tied with a ribbon at the base. Two six-pointed stars flank the wreath at the lower left and right. An inner beaded border separates the central device from the outer English legend, which reads THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA arching across the top and ONE DOLLAR along the bottom, all within a milled outer border.
