Below, the denomination is rendered in two large kanji characters reading 一圓 (One Yen), flanked on either side by decorative branches of paulownia and chrysanthemum flowers. A countermark appears to the left of the denomination characters. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner border, with a plain outer rim. |
