| Beschrijving keerzijde | Bimetallic coin with a copper-nickel centre set within a brass ring. The centre field displays a large numeral 1 to the left, overlaid upon a cartographic outline of the Chagos Archipelago (British Indian Ocean Territory) rendered in low relief. The legend 1 XEROS© is inscribed in the lower portion of the centre field in Latin characters. The brass outer ring features a continuous decorative border of stylised foliate and geometric ornaments, consistent in style with the obverse ring design. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The British Indian Ocean Territory has no permanent civilian population — the Chagossians were forcibly removed between 1968 and 1973 to make way for the joint US-UK military base at Diego Garcia. BIOT issues no functional currency; the US dollar circulates on the base. Pattern pieces like this one exist purely as collectibles, struck for a territory whose inhabitants were expelled precisely so it could never become a normal jurisdiction.
