Jersey's 2006 pattern coinage was struck in anticipation of a proposed decimal restructuring that never materialized in the form intended. The "Xeros Ceros" denomination — effectively a zero-value experimental unit — was part of internal trials conducted by the Royal Mint on behalf of the island's treasury to evaluate new planchet specifications and alloy compositions ahead of a potential reissue series.
Pattern pieces from Jersey's dependency coinage rarely enter the market; most were retained or destroyed.
