| 正面描述 | Central field occupied by the Portuguese royal arms, depicting a quartered shield with castles and bezants, set within an ornate arched frame. The shield is surmounted by a decorative arcade or crown-like border composed of lobed arches. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle and a plain outer rim, characteristic of hammered coinage of the Goa mint. The mintmaster's initials G-A appear in the field, identifying the assayer responsible for this emission. The overall style reflects the late 17th-century Portuguese colonial coinage tradition. |

| 背面描述 | A bold cross pattée occupies the central field, dividing the reverse into four quadrants. The date digits are distributed across the quadrants flanking the cross, reading 1669 (or the respective year of issue for each variety), a layout typical of Portuguese colonial hammered coinage from Goa. The cross arms are broad and clearly defined, consistent with the hammered technique. A beaded inner circle borders the design, with a plain outer rim completing the coin's periphery. The composition and arrangement follow the established typology of the Xerafim series struck under Prince Pedro as regent. |

The Xerafim was the principal silver denomination of Portuguese Goa, its value fixed against the local Hindu monetary system inherited from the Adil Shahi sultanate that Portugal displaced in 1510. Pedro served as regent from 1668 before formally deposing his brother Afonso VI in 1683 — the "Prince Regent" designation on these coins reflects that constitutional ambiguity, making the G-A mint mark and regal style together a precise political timestamp.
Goa's silver supply during this period depended heavily on trade with the Estado da India's eastern factories, and output was irregular. The KM#73 attribution covers the full fifteen-year span without distinguishing die phases.
