Reverse description Central field depicts a standing armored figure of Saint John the Baptist (the patron saint of King João IV's namesake), rendered in a crude hammered style characteristic of the Goa mint. The figure holds a staff or cross and is surrounded by the mintmaster initials 'S' and 'I' flanking the upper portion, with the date '1642' inscribed in the lower field. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner border, with the outer rim exhibiting the same rope-style collar as the obverse.
