Obverse description The national coat of arms of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea occupies the central field, depicting Mount Paektu beneath a radiant five-pointed star, flanked by sheaves of rice bound with a ribbon inscribed with the state name in Hangul, and a hydroelectric dam in the lower register. Stylised floral sprays flank the arms at left and right. The circular legend in Hangul naming the Central Bank of the DPRK runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination '1 원' (1 Won) is inscribed prominently in the lower field.
