Additional information

North Korea's commemorative aluminum issues from the early 2000s were produced largely for the export collector market rather than domestic circulation — hard currency was the point, not coinage. The Central Bank issued dozens of low-mintage pieces during this period through foreign distributors, and most examples have spent their entire existence in capsules.
